About the Inn
The Inn was a one room building built by the Monks from the Church that hold the grounds within which the Inn stands today. Like most Inns of that time the main aim was to help finance the Monks requirements. In recent years the Inn has undergone extensive renovations which make it the warm and pleasant place it is today. During these renovations two existing fire places were uncovered, one just inside the door as you enter and a much larger local granite stone one at the end of the non smoking dining area. Also uncovered was a small silk slipper which is now on display in a glass case. The slipper was probably hidden in about 1860, it's from a custom in the 13th century where slippers that had been worn by the householder were placed near doors, windows and chimneys to ward off evil spirits.
